Three piece pop punk band Coasting recently released their debut EP 'Summertide'. This project at it's core is very reminiscent of Enema of the State era Blink 182. As the EP's title suggests, all six tracks on the record are perfect feel good jams for summer weather. Although the band's writing style pays tribute to the simpler times of punk, this EP also features several unexpected musical choices. The best example of this is the ending of the closing track 'Worthwhile'. Out of absolutely nowhere, the song switches to a completely electronic 80s-esque tune. The track 'Mind' is also a curveball from traditional pop punk, being a reverb infested and lyrically despondent melody. Catch them performing their EP release show with Awktopus tonight at 8:30 PM. The free show will be held at 557 N Chatham St in Janesville. Make Coasting apart of your summer memories and stream their debut project here.
